dietetics department in OMI provides dietary consultation to Inpatients
as well as Outpatients. All patients are visited by the clinical
dietician shortly after admission. Dieticians discuss eating habits,
food allergies and dietary modification according to the patients
needs during the hospital stay and after discharge from the hospital.
In the ICU patients are on special care so every diet should be
served under the supervision of the dietician. Meals are according
to the patients' condition, requirements and the physician advice.
At the time of discharge patients, who are on a modified diet are
given a discharge dietary plan which comprises a sample menu and
general recommendations. This discharge dietary plan is explained
by the dietician to the patient and their attendants.
