Telemedicine, as the name suggests, is the delivery of health services over a distance. It simply means that the patient and the doctor are present at separate locations but still treatment is being given through the efficient use of information technology. The treatment takes place through computers, internet, web based services, telephone, video-conferencing and special medical peripherals.

Telemedicine saves life, reduces the cost of treatment, provides ease to the patients, allows treatment to be delivered timely and precisely, enable more people to benefit from limited health resources.

In the near future at OMI, patients will be able to avail the following telemedicine services:

bullet

Second Opinion and Treatment by a panel of doctors from Singapore, USA, UK and other countries for complex medical problems.

bullet
